SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

 

The Homer-Center School District is seeking candidates for the position of superintendent of schools.  The current superintendent is retiring after 21 years in the district.  The position is open to qualified candidates, with a doctorate and central office experience preferred.  The district is seeking individuals with strong leadership skills; evidence of past achievements; and ability to move the district forward under their command.  Applications are due on or before March 30, 2007.

The Homer-Center School District has a reputation of being a quality school district in Indiana County.  The district remains innovative, and well connected to county, state, and national endeavors.  Recently, the Homer-Center School District was considered a high performer by Standard & Poors relative to achievement on the PSSA.  Bids will be awarded in May, 2007 for the renovation of the high school.  The elementary school renovation, on the other hand, was completed in 1998.  In recent years, the district has also built a modern track facility, for use by our students, staff, and community. 

The Homer-Center School District has 76 full-time teachers; 3 administrators (not counting the superintendent); 35 support staff; and approximately 950 students, all of which are housed in two beautiful buildings on a campus-like setting.  The 2007-2008 budget is projected at approximately $13 million.  Centrally located in Indiana County, the Homer-Center School District enjoys easy access to a main artery, which transverses the county, and allows for quick access to the Pittsburgh area for numerous cultural and recreational opportunities.  Over the years, the Homer-Center School District has also enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Westmoreland County Community College.

HEAD COACH – VARSITY GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
