Welcome Letter

Hello to the Homer Center School Community,

As I begin this new position I want you to know that I am truly honored to be your new Superintendent.  There are so many great things that already happen at the Homer Center schools and I am going to work with the Board, Administrative team, teachers, staff, parents, students, community to build on that strong foundation for our future.

Allow me to tell you a little about myself and my background. I bring many types of educational experience with me to Homer Center.  I have been a classroom teacher (Secondary History), assistant principal, principal, Director of Education and Assistant Superintendent.  I have worked in both public and private schools, in large, medium and small schools and coached teams in many of these schools.   My undergraduate degree in education is from Juniata College.  I then obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and my Educational Doctorate Degree from Duquesne University.   I have sat on local, state and institutional boards.

I truly enjoy being part of the school and community and look forward to this at Homer Center.  There are many exciting things going on in the school and the area.   This summer I will be working with Board Members, staff and employees to learn about the operations at Homer-Center and hope to meet as many students, teachers, families and community members as possible.  My door is open so feel free to stop by the school to talk.   I will take advantage of the many avenues of communication to keep everyone informed of the great things that will be happening here at Homer-Center.

As everyone knows this is a time of many competing demands on the resources and finances of our public education system.   We will all work together to be wise stewards of these resources  for the benefit of all students.  Together we will meet all new challenges and keep Homer-Center a place where “Everybody is Somebody”.

Respectfully,

Dr. Charles Koren, Superintendent
