REQUIREMENTS FOR 6^th GRADE CAREER PROJECT

For this project you will be required to create a two page report about the career of your choice. It obviously should be a career that you are interested in. It is strongly suggested that students choose careers that are realistic. (Ex: No pro-wrestlers, stock car racers, movie stars, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS

Students will create a two page report of the career of their choice. It is to be typed or in CURSIVE. Please use 12 or 14 pt. font if typed. Please keep spacing to a minimum between paragraphs.

The information included should cover the following areas:

Name of career.

Nature of the work. (What do you do every day?)

Education needed to work in a particular career. (Ex: college, vocational

school, apprenticeship, etc.)

Skills needed to work successfully in a particular career. (Ex:

communication skills, hand/eye coordination, patience, etc.)

Working Conditions. (Where do you work? Hours? Drawbacks?)

Earnings.

At least 3 careers related to your field.

Why you chose this career.

Students will create a bibliography that follows MLA format.

Students will create 1-2 note cards for each topic. Note cards should follow correct format.

Students will use at least 4 sources.

One computer source (Power Library, Web Site, etc.)

One book source

Source of choice; Interview, another web site, another book, etc.

One encyclopedia or career encycylopedia

Students will be graded on the following: Content, Organization, Format, Bibliography, Neatness, Spelling, and Grammar.
