	5 Fundamental Themes of Geography Power Point Project Rationale for the project: Geographers use five basic themes of geography to study the earth and the different kinds of things on it. It is important the students know and can use these themes in their study of the earth and all it’s places to develop a better understanding and appreciation for the world. The students need to learn and use the Power Point program, create informational slides that apply their knowledge of a subject, and present their slide shows Objectives: 1. Students will answer the question, “What is geography?” and describe its importance 2. Students will explain and illustrate the 5 Fundamental Themes of Geography 3. Students will create a 7-slide Power Point show to apply their knowledge of the 5 themes of geography Standards: National Council for Geography Education Standards - Standard 18:To apply geography to interpret the present and plan for the future. PA Academic Standards for Geography 7.1.6 A. Geographic representations to display spatial information: absolute location, relative location, flows (goods, people, traffic.) 7.1.6. B. Describe the human characteristics of places and regions by their population characteristics. 7.3.6 B Describe the human characteristics of places and regions by their cultural characteristics.
