At the conclusion of this unit, you will be able to "become and explorer
of your choice during a short question/answer session during library class.
All research for this project should be done during library or computer
class.

Students will find the following facts:
- Name of explorer
- Birth and death dates
- Where did they travel? (Be specific!)
- Why did they want to explore?
- What items did they take with them? (No less than 5)
- What did they use to assist them on their journeys? (Guides,
navigational tools, etc.)
- What was their intended destination? Did they get there? Where
did they finally end up?

- What type of hazards did they face?
- What were their major discoveries?
- What items did they bring back with them?
- What did they eat?
- Put yourself in the explorers place. What yould you have done
differently if YOU were the explorer?
- How did the native peoples react to your explorer?

At the end of the project you will turn in:
- 1 bibliography on a separate sheet of paper. (Bibliography will
be done in the computer lab)
- 1 set of note cards

| Using the facts that you collected on your note cards, you will be
able to "transform" yourself into your explorer for a 3 minute question
and answer session during class where students will try to guess which
explorer you are by asking you questions> |
