The Thirteen Original Colonies

The Task - Choose one of the original thirteen colonies of the United States of America. Design a PowerPoint presentation that provides information about your colony.

The Materials - Use the following web sites to research the project.  You may also use search engines and library resources to find information.

The Questions: Your presentation must answer the following questions:

Who founded the colony? When?

Who were the important people involved in the early settlement of your colony?

Why did the early settlers leave their homes to come to America?

How did the early settlers make their living?

How did the colony get it's name?

What were the schools like?

Other Requirements:

  • A map of the 13 colonies with your colony highlighted. (Hint: Save the map and open it in Paint to edit)

  • Pictures - These can be of important people, or pictures that portray everyday life in the colony.  Include a caption or descriptive paragraph with each picture.
