Welcome To HCSD Food Service Department

Our Food Service Department provides healthy meals and snacks to students and staff through the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and After School Snack Program. These programs follow rules set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Summer Meal Options for Students

Families can find free meal sites for children during the summer by:

SUN Bucks – Extra Money for Groceries

During the school year, about 30 million kids eat breakfast and lunch through USDA programs. In the summer, many lose access to those meals, even though they still need healthy food.

Pennsylvania offers SUN Bucks, a summer grocery benefit that gives eligible school-aged children $120 to help families buy more food. SUN Bucks works with other benefits like SNAP and WIC, and kids can still eat free meals at summer meal sites.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Thanks to our partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, we want families to know that income limits for SNAP (formerly called food stamps) have recently increased. More families may now qualify for food help.

Food Safety

Our department is committed not only to serving healthy meals but also to keeping high standards for food safety and cleanliness.
